Try these troubleshooting tips for possible causes when your LG oven won’t heat.
Check for power issues
The first step for an LG oven not heating is to check the power supply. Never use an extension cord to power an oven. Also, the oven should be on a dedicated circuit switched to the ON position. Check to make sure the circuit breaker didn’t trip. If it’s flipped OFF, switch it back to the ON position.

Thermal Fuse Failure
In the event your oven gets too hot, the thermal fuse trips to shut off power to the oven as a safety mechanism. A blown thermal fuse will prevent the oven from turning on. Use a multimeter to check the thermal fuse for continuity. If the fuse is defective, it needs to be replaced for the oven to operate.
Broken Heating Element
If you are having trouble with an LG oven not getting hot and you have an electric oven, you may have a broken heating element. Inspect the heating element for holes, blisters, or other signs of damage. Check to see if the heating element glows when turned on.
If you’re still not sure why your LG oven won’t heat and you suspect a defective heating element, use a multimeter to make the final determination. If the heating element does not have continuity it needs replacement.
Faulty Gas Igniter
The most common cause for an LG gas oven not heating properly is a bad igniter. The igniter draws electrical current through the safety valve to heat up and ignite the gas in the oven burner. If the igniter weakens or otherwise fails, the gas won’t ignite and your oven won’t heat. You can observe the igniter when the oven is on. If it glows red for longer than 90 seconds without igniting the burner, or if it doesn’t glow at all, you should replace the igniter.

April 21, 2022 3:11 amOur LG oven (LSG4513ST) does not heat. It cuts off at about 130 degrees. We have:
-replaced the thermal sensor
-replaced the igniter
-replaced the relay board
-replaced the main control board
Any further ideas?

June 20, 2022 9:16 pmOven preheats and then cools. If I set the oven to 350 it will preheat without issue but then will drop to 230 within 15 minutes. Replacing the sensor did not work.

November 7, 2022 3:16 pmThis is exactly the issue I’m facing. However, I’ve noticed that it can hold temperature if preheating to a temperature greater than 400 or 425. But, in 30 minutes it will drop from 350 down to 190. Basically, it’s just cooling off at that point it’s not even pretending to hold temperature.

March 7, 2023 2:33 amThe gas went out in my 400 unit complex. They didn’t know how to restart oven but the stove top burners work. I know there is a small hole on the rear left side of oven. Should I try and light it from there?

May 16, 2023 4:33 amCrazy idea. Mine has intermittent issues when it comes to not heating. (Stuck at 180 no higher) Today it was doing it again and just got the heck of it, I turned on the top burners one by one, then turned them off. It’s like I reset something. I tried the oven and it worked!

July 5, 2023 10:13 amMy LG has range is having issues with heating. It won’t it past 125degrees then starts to smell like gas. We’ve had the oven serviced several times, we keep having the issue. This is the 2nd LG we’ve had in 4yrs with the same issue. I will never buy another LG again.
