Follow our troubleshooting guide if you discover your Wolf range burner not igniting.

Why Your Range Burner Won’t Light

There are several common causes for failed burners:

  • Burner cap askew
  • Defective spark module, electrode, switch, or ignitor

Check for Power Issues

The first step when your Wolf range burner won’t ignite is to check the power supply. Although it’s a gas range, the ignitor is electric and requires power to spark and click.

After checking that the power is secure, locate the circuit breaker and ensure it is not tripped. If the circuit breaker tripped, flip it OFF then back to the ON position.

If you have verified the power supply is OK, then the burner is most likely dirty and needs cleaning.

How to Clean Wolf Sealed Burners

Your Wolf range burner won’t ignite if the burner housing is clogged. Before you clean, make sure to start with a cool burner. Follow these steps to clean a Wolf burner properly.

  1. Dampen a soft cloth.
  2. Carefully spray a mild detergent or manufacturer-approved degreaser onto the cloth. Do NOT spray directly onto the burner as overspray can cause moisture problems.
  3. Disassemble the burner and wipe down each of the components. Do not put burner parts into the dishwasher.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry completely, blowing through the holes to remove trapped detergent or degreaser.
  5. Use a dry toothbrush or opened paper clip to further clean the burner portholes. Do not use a toothpick, as it could break during cleaning.
  6. Reassemble the burner and allow to air dry for at least 5 minutes before igniting.
